CATEGORY FIVE is a son of the premier stallion Storm Cat, the sire of more than 170 stakes winners, including 106 graded/group stakes winners, and the collective earners of more than $121 million. Storm Cat's legacy includes eight champions and his successful sire sons Giant's Causeway, Tale of the Cat, Stormy Atlantic, Forest Wildcat, Bernstein, Hennessy, Forestry and many others.
CATEGORY FIVE is out of the winning, stakes-placed Nodouble mare Slinkee, whose half-sister is 1989 Canadian Broodmare of the Year Passing Mood, the stakes-winning dam of two influential stallions: 1989 Canadian Horse of the Year With Approval and 1997 Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Touch Gold.
CATEGORY FIVE was a precocious runner. As a 2-year-old, he won his career debut in a maiden special weight race at Monmouth Park by more than four lengths. At 3, he won an allowance race at Delaware Park. He also placed in allowance company at Gulfstream Park at 4.
CATEGORY FIVE is off to a promising start at stud. From eight crops of racing age, he has sired four stakes horses, led by the multiple stakes winner Edgerrin ($451,010), a durable winner from the ages of 2 to 8.
