The Payoff Is
at the Track

The E. A. philosophy pays off with excellent results at the racetrack.
     E. A. Ranches owner Ernest Auerbach has been honored as the leading California-based owner and as the Owner of the Meeting at Hollywood Park and has received awards as the owner/breeder of California-bred Champion Filly and Valkyr Trophy winner Belle's Flag.
     E. A. Ranches takes great pride in the number of top-quality runners that are graduates of its program.
Graded stakes winners Belle's Flag ($546,000), Lottery Winner ($487,425), Queen of Wilshire ($441,102), Grab the Prize ($322,690), and Tres Paraiso ($349,375) and stakes winner Closed Escrow ($355,000) all were raised and trained at E. A. Ranches.
In addition, after arriving from Argentina, E. A. Ranch's Star Cross (Arg) raced briefly, then was rested and trained at the farm before returning to the track, where he has earned $194,977, with wins in the San Pasqual Handicap (Grade 2) and the Forty-Niner Handicap.
The breaking and training program at E. A. Ranches emphasize the development of the individual. Horses at the breaking barn undergo several weeks of basics, including extensive ground work and driving, before graduating to the training track.
The 5/8-mile training track, built by the renowned trackman Steve Wood, is renovated daily and is ripped and graded every three to four weeks. The track is equipped with a three-stall starting gate.
     E. A. Ranch's unique three-mile jogging trail, which winds up and down the hillside, is used, depending on the needs of the individual horse, as an additional conditioning resource or as an alternative to the training track.
This trail provides an excellent physical and mental break in the routine of young horses and has been credited with the successful rehabilitation of numerous older racehorses.
