Highland Gold won the Grade 3 Los Angeles Handicap at Hollywood 
     Park, probably the most important sprint event in the West, finishing more 
     than 9 lengths ahead of the unplaced favorite, Old Topper.

Highland Gold raced at 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 and won or placed in stakes 
     races every season from 3 through 7, retiring with earnings of $266,445. 

Highland Gold won or placed in graded stakes races at 6 furlongs and 
     1 1/16 miles and won five times at 6 furlongs and twice at a flat mile.

Highland Gold is a son of Slew o' Gold, champion 3-year-old colt and
     champion handicap horse at 4,  earner of $3,533,534. He is the sire of 28 
     stakes winners.

Highland Gold's dam won seven races from 2 to 5 and was multiple 
     stakes-placed. She is the dam of three stakes horses, each with earnings 
     over $200,000.
