LIT DE JUSTICE was one of the fastest horses of his — or any — generation. Although he won at distances up to 1 1/16 miles, he was dominant on an international scale in races contested at seven furlongs and under. He won or placed in 11 sprint stakes, including nine in graded company. In addition to winning the 1996 Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) at Woodbine, he set a 5 1/2-furlong track record at Santa Anita Park (1:01.85) and equaled a seven-furlong track record at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club (1:20.06). He won or placed in 24 of 36 starts overall, and retired with career earnings of $1,397,649 as the 1996 Eclipse Champion Sprinter.
LIT DE JUSTICE has carried his class to the breeding shed. To date, his runners have earned more than $20.9 million, with average earnings per starter of more than $64,000 — the second-highest average among all active California stallions. He has sired more than 250 winners in his lifetime, while maintaining an excellent Average Earnings Index of 1.25.
LIT DE JUSTICE consistently achieved annual progeny earnings in excess of $1 million every year from 2001 through 2009, including more than $3 million in both 2003 and 2004. His California-conceived crops have collectively earned more than $4.8 million to date, and he ranks as one of the Golden State's leading overall sires of the past decade.
LIT DE JUSTICE sires soundness, as indicated by his lifetime average of more than 23 starts per runner. Many of his offspring are exceptionally durable: his sons I Testify (126 starts) and Crown's Justice (79 starts) were both winners at the age of 10 in 2010, while his veteran campaigner Lit de Beurre won or placed in 44 of his 152 starts from 2001 through 2010. In 2011, his son Fromajack to Aking became a 12-time winner in his 69th career start.
LIT DE JUSTICE is represented by 37 black-type horses, including Silver Bird ($539,329; stakes winner, placed in four graded races), No Parole ($555,067; stakes winner, placed in three graded races), La Salle Glory ($506,039), Hour of Justice ($484,608; Royal North Handicap-G3, etc.), Injustice ($446,540; Azeri Breeders' Cup Stakes-G3, etc.) and the 2010 Hollywood Park stakes winner Dotsy Jean ($330,418).
