MISTER ACPEN (CHI) brings to the stud a powerful combination of Group 1 prowess, racing soundness and distance capabilities.
MISTER ACPEN is a dual Group 1-winning representative of the potent Mr. Prospector sire line. He is a son of the multiple winner Golden Voyager, the sire of 15 black-type winners, including Chilean Horse of the Year Crystal House.
MISTER ACPEN hails from a female family steeped in South American success, and has several notable runners dotting his pedigree. His dam, a daughter of the stakes winner Semenenko, is a full sister to the four-time Group 1 winner Grosor and the multiple group-placed performer Green Peace. The Chilean Champion Older Grass Horse Guacate is another prominent family member.
MISTER ACPEN initiated his racing career in his native Chile. His maiden win, at the end of his 2-year-old season, served as a springboard to even more accomplishments. In his next two starts, he won a pair of stakes races, topped by the Polla de Potrillos-Chilean Two Thousand Guineas (Chi-G1) at approximately one mile on the turf. The highlight of his early race record was his victory in Chile's El Derby (Chi-G1), a turf route of approximately 1 1/2 miles that would serve as his final start in his homeland.
MISTER ACPEN was next imported to the United States, where he thrived under the conditioning of trainer Kristin Mulhall. A prime contender on the competitive California grass circuit in 2003, he captured the $142,500 Bay Meadows Breeders' Cup Handicap (G3) at Bay Meadows Racecourse and placed in an elite pair of races at Hollywood Park, running second by less than a length in the Grade 1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap and third in the Grade 2 Citation Handicap to round out his 5-year-old season.
MISTER ACPEN won several more races in Southern California, and retired at 9 with total earnings of $428,236 from 40 starts. A sound and versatile runner, he made all but one of his lifetime starts on the turf, and was victorious from the distances of six furlongs to 1 1/2 miles.
MISTER ACPEN entered stud this year at Spoiled Rotten Ranch in Marysville, California. His 2010 fee is $1,250, live foal guarantee. As an introductory special, breeders are invited to take advantage of a unique offer: breed two mares for the price of one! Or, breed one mare and your second year of breeding will be free.
