MR. BROAD BLADE, bay, 1996, by Broad Brush--Miss High Blade, by Highland Blade.
A Stakes-Winning Son
Out of a Graded Stakes
Winner
A Consistent Runner:
Mr. Broad Blade won the $100,000 Ascot Handicap at Bay Meadows, wire to wire, by four lengths, and placed in two other added-money races, including the Grade 2 San Fernando Breeders' Cup Handicap at Santa Anita, in which he started slowly but came on strong to finish only a length and a half behind the winner. Mr. Broad Blade earned $191,724, winning three races and placing in four others, all at the middle distances best equated with sire success--a mile to a mile and an eighth. Mr. Broad Blade was a remarkably honest runner. He started 12 times, from 2 to 4, and never ran a bad race. He finished on the board in every one of those starts, all in stakes, allowance or maiden special weight races. Mr. Broad Blade is the only son of leading sire Broad Brush standing in California. Broad Brush, the leading sire in North America in 1994, has sired 84 stakes winners and earners of more than $58,000,000. Mr. Broad Blade is from a strong female family. His dam was a graded stakes winner of $508,241 who produced a stakes winner of $227,756. His second dam also was a stakes winner and stakes producer. Mr.
Broad Blade's
first foals reached racing age in 2004. He stands at Magali Farms at a
