POLISH MINER, a leading sire every year of eligibility, offers Washington breeders an exciting opportunity to tap into one of Thoroughbred racing's most influential families.
POLISH MINER is a multiple graded stakes-placed performer who won or placed in 17 of 30 starts from the ages of 2 to 5 and compiled lifetime earnings of $344,646. After breaking his maiden by nearly 10 lengths at Belmont Park, he placed in Aqueduct's Grade 2 Remsen Stakes and Grade 3 Nashua Stakes on the dirt at 2, Saratoga's Grade 2 National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Handicap on the dirt at 3 and Aqueduct's Grade 2 Knickerbocker Handicap on the turf at 5 - all at distances of a mile or longer.
POLISH MINER is a well-bred son of the five-time international leading sire Danzig. He has sired the collective earners of more than $4.3 million from his first six crops of racing age, and boasts lifetime average earnings per starter of more than $39,000. Among his seven stakes horses is the 2011 stakes winner D Day.
POLISH MINER was Maryland's leading first-crop sire of 2006, Washington's leading second-crop sire of 2007 and Oregon's leading third-crop sire of 2008. His progeny earnings in 2008 established him as Oregon's overall leading sire, a position which he retained in 2009 with year-end progeny earnings of $1,130,844. In 2010, he returned to Washington and subsequently recorded year-end progeny earnings of $1,095,818, while leading all state-based sires by progeny earnings on the turf.
POLISH MINER represents a genetic goldmine. He is out of Miner's Game, a winning daughter of the nine-time leading broodmare sire Mr. Prospector. She is the dam of four stakes horses, including the 2011 second-crop sire Survivalist ($478,920), a Grade 3 winner and full brother to Polish Miner who ran second in the 2005 Wood Memorial Stakes (G1). Miner's Game is also the granddam of the graded stakes winner Awesome Chic.
POLISH MINER is a full brother to the deceased stallion Polish Gift, Washington's leading first-crop sire of 2007 and leading second-crop sire of 2008. Polish Gift's chief earner is the two-time Washington champion and five-time stakes winner Margo's Gift ($356,507).
POLISH MINER's dam is a full sister to the dual Grade 1 winner and leading sire Seeking the Gold ($2,307,000), whose offspring include 50 graded stakes winners and the collective earners of more than $92 million. She is also a half-sister to the Grade 1-performing sires Fast Play and Stacked Pack.
POLISH MINER stands at St. Hilaire Thoroughbreds in Yakima, Washington as the property of Greg and Chuck Conley. In recognition of the current economy, his 2011 fee has been reduced to $600, live foal guarantee.
