ROBANNIER has had only 44 starters, but seven of them are stakes horses and nine have earned more than $100,000 each. Two of those are earners of more than $300,000 each. 

ROBANNIER's runners have earned him superior marks as a sire: Average Earnings Index of 1.51, Sire Production Index of 1.48, average earnings per starter of more than $58,000, and median earnings per starter of more than $34,000. Those numbers are among California's best in every category.

ROBANNIER broke his maiden by four lengths at Hollywood Park in the final race of his 2-year-old season. In his next start, he scored a 
4 1/2-length victory in the Grade 3 California Juvenile Stakes at Bay Meadows and followed  by finishing third in the Grade 3 El Camino Real Stakes. He then went on to the Grade 1 Florida Derby and the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby but was unplaced in both.

ROBANNIER is a son of the successful sire Batonnier from a high-class female family. His dam, a daughter of the great Northern Dancer, is the dam of three stakes winners and granddam of four other stakes horses. His second dam, by the renowned *Ribot, is a full sister to Horse of the Year Arts and Letters and a half-sister to the granddam of champion Silverbulletday.
