Although a relatively young farm, Valley Creek Farm already boasts of having reared and developed many $100,000-plus earners and stakes winners. Valley Creek Farm's record confirms the belief that a foal fed and raised properly will be a better racehorse.

Boarding

Large grass pastures give the permanent residents of Valley Creek Farm every opportunity to grow up strong and healthy.
Compatible groupings of horses are kept in large grass pastures. Individual grass pastures are also available.
The grass pastures are maintained year round. Our smaller grass pastures have the manure picked up daily. The large pastures are mowed and the manure and grass clippings removed regularly.
All horses on the farm are wormed every eight weeks. Vaccinations are done at what veterinary science now feels is optimum time for maximum protection.
Visiting mares are placed in individual paddocks so as to prevent injury and the spread of infectious disease.
Valley Creek Farm's feeding program substantially conforms to the recommendations resulting from extensive research at Ohio State University.
Special attention is given the mare during the last trimester of her pregnancy. In addition to our grass pastures, we feed TizWhiz Rations and high-quality alfalfa, oat and grass hay.
Additional attention is paid to the individual needs of all horses, especially older mares and lay-ups.
The mares give birth in a pristine grass enclosure, assisted by an experienced crew. The enclosure is well-lighted and surrounded by mares in waiting. The mares give birth near their friends, thereby eliminating unnecessary stress.
The mare and newborn foal are bedded down in a large stall in the barn within an hour of the birth.
Foals are handled (imprinted) extensively from birth. This handling continues throughout their youth.
