Impeachment Headshot IMPEACHMENT, one of the best classic runners in his crop, is standing his second season in California at Fruitful Acres Farm in 2014.

IMPEACHMENT broke his maiden in his racing debut at 2 in a maiden special weight race. Immediately placed on the 2000 Triple Crown trail, he showed ability by running second in the Tampa Bay Derby at Tampa Bay Downs, and followed that achievement with a rallying third-place finish in Oaklawn Park’s Arkansas Derby (G2) after a poor start.

IMPEACHMENT had stamped his ticket to Louisville, and rewarded his connections with a dramatic rally from 19th and last to finish third in the Kentucky Derby (G1) behind Fusaichi Pegasus and Aptitude. He next traveled to Pimlico, and after breaking slowly in the Preakness Stakes (G1), once again closed with a flourish to run third behind Red Bullet and Kentucky Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus. An extremely slow pace in the Belmont Stakes (G1) three weeks later compromised any chance this late runner had, but he still rallied from last to finish a respectable fifth.

IMPEACHMENT retired as the only member of his crop to have competed in all three Triple Crown races. During his career, he defeated numerous Grade 1 runners, such as Dubai World Cup (G1) winner Captain Steve, multiple Grade 1 winner High Yield, Florida Derby (G1) winner Hal’s Hope, King’s Bishop Stakes (G1) winner More Than Ready, Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) winner War Chant, Belmont Stakes winner Commendable, two-time Santa Anita Handicap (G1) winner Milwaukee Brew and 1999 Eclipse Champion 2-Year-Old Colt Anees.

IMPEACHMENT is by the Eclipse and Sovereign Award-winning juvenile Deputy Minister, whose sons at stud have included Awesome Again, Silver Deputy, Salt Lake, Dehere, French Deputy and Touch Gold. He holds distinction as the only Deputy Minister stallion in California who won at 2.

IMPEACHMENT is from a stellar female family. He is a half-brother to the Grade 2-placed stakes winner Cat Charmer, and his dam, a daughter of 1990 Eclipse Horse of the Year Criminal Type, is a half-sister to 1982 Eclipse Champion Sprinter Gold Beauty. Other top racehorses in the family include 1990 England Horse of the Year Dayjur, 1994 Eclipse Champion Older Female Sky Beauty, 2005 Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) winner Pleasant Home, the dual Grade 1 winners Maplejinsky and Pine Island and the 2012-2013 multiple Grade 1 winner Point of Entry.

IMPEACHMENT is represented by more than $2 million in collective progeny earnings, and his average earnings per starter of more than $28,000 places him among the upper tier of California stallions in this category. From a limited opportunity, he has sired 9% black-type runners from winners, including the graded stakes-placed stakes winner Scooter Girl, the multiple stakes-placed winner No Hear Say and the stakes-placed winner Nook and Granny, a track record-setter at Hollywood Park in her 2-year-old debut. He is also the sire of Aziza Emira, a champion juvenile filly in the Dominican Republic.

IMPEACHMENT, a $260,000 Saratoga Select yearling, has impeccable conformation. As the only Kentucky Derby-placed stallion standing in the state, he offers California breeders an outstanding source of stamina for their mares.

IMPEACHMENT stands at Fruitful Acres Farm in Aguanga, California. His 2014 fee is $2,000, live foal guarantee. Special considerations are available for qualified mares, including free seasons for all stakes mares, all A+++ eNicks-matched mares and all mares who are boarded year-round at Fruitful Acres (the boarding rate is $10 per day). As an additional incentive, the stud fee will be reduced by 50% if the fee is paid at the time a mare is determined to be in foal by a veterinarian.
