Seeking the Gold – Temper the Wind, by Elocutionist
Dark Bay or Brown • 2000

Washington’s #1 First-Crop Sire Of 2008
& #1 Second-Crop Sire Of 2009

Two Stakes Horses In His First Crop!

Private Gold was a racehorse, a racehorse with pedigree, top and bottom.

Private Gold was a stakes winner at 2, taking the $100,000 James C. Ellis Juvenile Stakes at Ellis Park before finishing second to undefeated champion Vindication in the Grade 3 Kentucky Cup Juvenile Stakes. At the end of the year, he was weighted on the Experimental Free Handicap.

Private Gold was again a stakes winner at 3, capturing the $100,000 Rushaway Stakes. In all, he won or placed in five stakes races in 13 starts, retiring with earnings of $208,047.

Private Gold is a son of the major racehorse and recently pensioned leading sire Seeking the Gold, a Grade 1 winner of $2,307,000 who has sired 89 stakes winners and the collective earners of more than $86 million. Seeking the Gold is a proven sire of sires, and counts Cape Town, Petionville, Mutakddim and Dubai Millennium among his successful sons.

Private Gold carries on one of the great sire lines in Thoroughbred history: Native Dancer to Raise a Native to Mr. Prospector to Seeking the Gold.

Private Gold is a half-brother to stakes winners Stem the Tide ($405,092), Private Jet ($257,152) and Gottcha Last ($111,488) and to stakes-placed Shuttered ($226,917) and Cancun Ruler. His female family boasts more than 30 stakes horses in the first three dams.

Private Gold was represented by his first runners in 2008. This initial crop of 2-year-olds featured six winners from 14 starters, including two stakes horses, and established him as the leading freshman sire in Washington. He is already repeating his reign as the state’s leading second-crop sire of 2009.

Private Gold is a spectacular individual. Come see him at El Dorado Farms in Enumclaw, Washington; just call for an appointment. His 2009 fee is $1,500, live foal guarantee.
